    History and Purpose

    Playing on custom ruleset 2

    • Using the latest version of Reflex available on steam connect to a server with the CR2 ruleset available
    • Use the commands "callvote ruleset CR2" if necessary

    Installing custom ruleset 2 on your server:


    • Download the CR2 Config file
    • Place the config file where Reflex is installed
    • Use the command "callvote ruleset CR2" to apply the ruleset
    • You can use the command "sv_startruleset CR2" in your dedicatedserver.cfg to automatically load the ruleset

    Providing Feedback

    Gameplay Philosophy

    • Having strong weapons while not being too easy to hit and register, it has become fairly obvious that having weapons too easy to hit discourages aggressive play and leads to passive low scoring games with limited action and fights.
    • Making all weapons relevant and useful suiting different roles and situations, while not rendering some "useless" with extreme tiering.

    • To avoid misunderstandings of the statement above, weapon tiers in custom ruleset 2 are:
      • Tier 1 : Rocket Launcher, Ion Cannon, Bolt Rifle.
      • Tier 2 : Shotgun, Plasma Rifle, Grenade Launcher, Burstgun, Melee.
    • Ammo management being more relevant by adjusting ammo values on the weapons/boxes/max carried which makes the control easier to break as the in-control player has to make continuous effort to gather ammunition.

    • Revamped ammunition system to :
      • Box * 2 = Weapon pickup
      • Weapon pickup * 2 = Max carried ammo
    • (It appeared that the previous system (MAX=2*WEP=2*BOX didn't fill it's purpose to slow down the in control player, this new revamped system intends to solve that.)

    CR2 Config file

    Overview:

    • Some weapons are less easy to hit, (easier than pre 1.1.5 comp ruleset, harder than current comp ruleset).

    • Melee damage is now 90 instead of 80, burstgun reload time has been very slightly increased, Plasma cell damage has been reduced by 1.

    • Ammo system now Box ammo *2 = weapon ammo and weapon ammo * 2 = max carried ammo.
    • Some weapons don't strictly follow the rule above but tend to (3/5/10 for Burst, Grenade Launcher, Bolt, Shotgun)
    • Low ammo warning sound is when current ammo reaches box ammo amount for that weapon.

    • The changes in custom ruleset 2 are most noticeable at a higher level of play, they do however make the game better for everyone !



    Melee:

    • Increased damage from 80 to 90.
    • Lowered ground knockback from 1.57 to 1.38 (same effective knockback, scaling).
    • Lowered air knockback ground 0.94 to 0.83 (same effective knockback, scaling).

    Burstgun:

    • Increased reload time from 450ms to 500ms (10% increase).
    • Ammo (Box/Weapon/Max) now (5/10/20) instead of (10/10/20).

    Shotgun:

    • Lowered trace size for entities from 0.75 to 0.5 units (33.3% decrease).
    • Lowered trace size for world from 0.75 to 0.5 units (33.3% decrease).
    • Increased reload time from 900ms to 925ms (2.7% increase)

    Grenade Launcher:

    • Lowered grenade gravity from 700 to 650 (7.14% decrease, enables launching the grenades farther).
    • Lowered trace size for entities from 2 to 1.75 units (12.5% decrease).
    • Lowered trace size for world from 2 to 1.75 units (12.5% decrease).
    • Lowered box ammo from 5 to 3, Ammo (Box/Weapon/Max) now 3/5/10 instead of 5/5/10
    • Increased low ammo warning sound from 2 to 3

    Plasma Rifle:

    • Lowered cell damage from 16 to 15 damage.
    • Lowered trace size for entities from 2.5 to 2 units (20% decrease).
    • Lowered trace size for world from 2.5 to 2 units (20% decrease).
    • (Plasma is still fairly easy to hit considering the trace increase change adopted in custom ruleset 1)
    • Lowered box ammo from 50 to 25, Ammo (Box/Weapon/Max) now 25/50/100 instead of 50/50/100

    Rocket Launcher:

    • Lowered projectile size for entities (players) from 1.25 to 1.10 units (12% decrease).
    • Lowered projectile size for world from 1.25 to 1.10 units (12% decrease).
    • Ammo (Box/Weapon/Max) now 5/10/20 instead of 8/8/16
    • Increased low ammo warning sound from 4 to 5

    Ion Cannon:

    • Lowered trace size for entities (players) from 0.75 to 0.5 units (33.3% decrease).
    • Lowered trace size for world from 0.75 to 0.5 units (33.3% decrease).
    • Ammo (Box/Weapon/Max) now 40/80/160 instead of 75/75/150.
    • Increased low ammo warning sound from 35 to 40

    Bolt Rifle:

    • Lowered trace size for entities (players) from 0.75 to 0.5 units (33.3% decrease).
    • Lowered trace size for world from 0.75 to 0.5 units (33.3% decrease).
    • Ammo (Box/Weapon/Max) now 3/5/10 instead of 5/5/10.
    • Increased low ammo warning sound from 2 to 3

    Movement:
